Reaching out to rural areas
This week I had the pleasure of talking about togetherfriends on a local radio station, www.drystoneradio.com. (Listen to the broadcast here) Drystone Radio broadcasts to a wide area from Skipton up into the Yorkshire Dales. The majority of this region is rural with many people living in remote villages and isolated communities. togetherfriends are keen to reach out to people who may be isolated from each other, making it difficult to make new friends. Closure of shops and pubs, lack of public transport, and limited community facilities provide fewer opportunities to meet others locally.
togetherfriends would like to develop a support network for women in rural areas, where women can connect to each other and set up togetherfriends group events such as walking clubs, coffee clubs or book clubs. There may be someone living in the next village of a similar age with similar interests. How do you meet them if there is no community event on offer? togetherfriends can help you do just this by connecting you to other women within a 5 mile radius or further afield. If you live in a rural area and would like to meet others like yourselves who live nearby, contact h[email protected] or register on this website here
